Chained Crusader : A former Batman to star in Harry Houdini project

Ben Affleck will star in a new film about daredevil magician Harry Houdini.

According to The Hollywood Reporter,  Disney are prepping a feature based on William Kalush and Larry Sloman’s book ‘The Secret Life of Houdini: The Making of America’s First Superhero’,  which Dan Trachtenberg will direct. Trachtenberg helmed “10 Cloverfield Lane” for Bad Robot a couple of years ago and recently joined forces with Disney to bring back the “Predator” franchise.

Interestingly enough, /film have discovered that Affleck’s not playing the magic man himself but “some kind of agent” in the flick.

Director BEN AFFLECK on the set of “ARGO”

Last week, news broke that Affleck had been snared to headline Amazon Studio’s “The Tender Bar”, which his bud George Clooney is directing.

Affleck has had a good year. After winning raves in “The Way Back”, which Warner are tipped to do one of those ‘For Your Consideration’ campaigns for, the former Batman was snapped up for New Regency thriller “Deep Water”, Ridley Scott’s “The Last Duel” and Robert Rodriguez’s “Hypnotic”. The actor, who also appeared in “Jay and Silent Bob Reboot” this year, signed to direct “The Long Goodbye”, which is based on the making of Polanski’s “Chinatown”.

Of course Willem Dafoe is returning for the new Spider-Man movie…
