Channing Tatum gets his own James Bond-type franchise in Red Shirt

Simon Kinberg and David Leitch also onboard the spy thriller

FOX

Channing Tatum, next in Magic Mike’s Last Dance, has teamed with prolific producer and writer Simon Kinberg (Mr & Mrs Smith, X-Men) – who is responsible for the pitch – for Red Shirt, a new spy thriller likened to the 007 series. It’s expected the film could be the launchpad of a potential new franchise for Tatum, who had been long attached to play comic book character Gambit in a movie for Marvel.

David Leitch, director of Bullet Train, is directing the film with Kelly McCormick and Leitch producing alongside Tatum.

According to Deadline, the package has already hit the market with several studios submitting offers and feels like something that could sell big before Thanksgiving holiday.

Channing Tatum stars in Columbia Pictures’ “22 Jump Street,” also starring Jonah Hill.
