Charlie Cox to play Daredevil in new 13-part series

Charlie Cox (“Boardwalk Empire”, “Stardust”) has signed to play the man without fear in Marvel and Netflix’s “Daredevil” series.

The Hollywood Reporter confirmed Cox’s anointment as Matt Murdock – first reported as a rumour by Latino Review – noting that he’s the first actor to be cast in the 13-episode series.

“Spartacus” and “Buffy” alum Steven S.DeKnight is the newly-announced showrunner (replacing Drew Goddard, who is busy on Sony’s “Spider-Man” spin-off “The Sinister Six”) of the series, based on the Marvel comic of the same name.

Cox succeeds Ben Affleck in the role of the blind lawyer turned latexed vigilante; Affleck played the role in the 2003 film “Daredevil”.

“Daredevil” is one of several new series Marvel and Netflix are working on together – they’re also doing “Jessica Jones”, “Luke Cage” and “Iron Fist”.
