They sure must have green at Millennium Films.
Despite pooey to middling reviews, “The Hitman’s Bodyguard” staring Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L.Jackson is going roman numerals, kicking off with the first in what’s likely a bunch o’sequels (well, they have lost the “Saw” franchise for the time being, after all) – “The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard”.
Reynolds and Jackson are back and Salma Hayek will reprise her role as Jackson’s missus in the Millennium/Lionsgate production.
Our friend and former colleague Mario at Revenge of the Fans reported recently that Morgan Freeman and Antonio Banderas had enlisted for the new film. Deadline, without credit (typically..), have confirmed Freeman’s anointment. Look for Banderas to be confirmed next.
Frank Grillo, no stranger to physically-demanding gigs, having partaken in everything from “Captain America” to “The Purge : Anarchy”, has also joined the cast.
Australia’s Patrick Hughes is returning to direct from a screenplay by Tom O’Connor. If you’ve never seen Hughes’ debut “Red Hill”, you have to – it’s incredible. Ryan Kwanten, who starred in that film, needs to do another film with the filmmaker – they’re super together.
