Hot on the heels of the “Vacation” reboot as well as the long-gestating, upcoming “Fletch” redo, another Chevy Chase comedy classic is due for the remake treatment.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox 2000 are developing a new version of Chase’s 1980 classic “Oh! Heavenly Dog” with “Alvin & The Chipmunks” helmer Tim Hill. Hill is also co-writing the script with Dave Johnson.

Brandon Camp, the son of the original movie’s director and co-writer, Joe Camp, is producing.

The original film, co-starring Jane Seymour and Omar Sharif, centered “on a private investigator who is killed when he discovers a dead body. With his soul’s future at stake — it’s not decided if he’s going to Heaven or Hell — he gets a chance for some redemption work, coming back to Earth as a dog in order to solve his own murder.”

The dog was played by a descendant of movie icon Benji.

Temple Hill (“Paper Towns”) produce.
