“Hawaii Five-0”’s Chi McBride is set to join Steve and Danno permanently, signing on with the show as a season regular.
McBride, who joined the CBS remake for its fourth season, plays SWAT Captain Lou Grover. McBride’s character is based on one of the same name from the original series, which ran from 1968-1980 over 12 seasons.
McBride will join other regular cast members, including Scott Cann, Daniel Dae Kin, Grace Park, Michelle Borth, Masi Oka and Australia’s Alex O’Loughlin.
“After his first guest spot, we knew we had something special here with Chi playing Captain Lou Grover,” Executive Producer Peter Lenkov said in a statement. “He just fit seamlessly into the fabric of ‘Hawaii Five-0′ and viewers are enjoying the spirited, if sometimes antagonistic, interaction between him and [Alex O’Loughlin’s Steve] McGarrett. We are so thrilled to welcome Chi into our Ohana.”
“Hawaii Five-0” airs in the State’s on Fridays at 9pm.
