Chris Hemsworth back for next Star Trek!

Ahead of this week’s release of “Star Trek Beyond” (and seemingly confident it’ll do well enough to warrant another sequel so soon), Paramount have announced a fourth film in Bad Robot’s reincarnated “Trek” franchise. More so, they’ve announced that Chris Hemsworth, who briefly played George Kirk (James’s father) in the pre-credits sequence leading into 2009’s “Star Trek”, will be back to star alongside onscreen son Chris Pine in the movie.

In the next installment of the epic space adventure, Pine’s Captain Kirk will cross paths with a man he never had a chance to meet, but whose legacy has haunted him since the day he was born: his father.

The remaining cast of the “Star Trek” series- including Simon Pegg and Zoe Saldana – is expected to return.

J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay will write the screenplay. J.J. Abrams and Lindsey Weber will produce through Bad Robot Productions. David Ellison and Dana Goldberg of Skydance will executive produce.

Hemsworth is currently starring in “Ghostbusters” alongside Melissa McCarthy, Kristin Wiig and Kate McKinnon, and filming “Thor : Ragnarok” and “Avengers : Infinity War – Part 1” back to back.
