CinemaCon : It Chapter Two footage stirs attendees!

Warner Bros let rip with the first footage from this summer’s “It Chapter Two” at today’s CinemaCon in Las Vegas, where cast and crew were in attendance to spruik what’s unarguably one of the most anticipated sequels of 2019.

When director Andy Muschietti came to CinemaCon in 2017 to tease the first “It,” he promised the crowd of theater owners it would be so scary they would “shit [their] pants.”

Deadline were there :

We saw older Beverly Marsh (Jessica Chastain) visiting her father’s old apartment where a spooky old lady lives. The apartment is cleaner from what Beverly imagines and while the woman is in the kitchen she retrieves and old love letter from one of her amigos in the Loser’s Club. Flies appear, a sign that Pennywise is around. “

“No one who ever dies ever really dies,” says the old lady to Beverly with a freaky straight face. She tells Bev her father was in the circus. Bev is suspicious, but it’s too late the old lady grows monstrous. Cut to teaser of the Losers Club grown up walking through town, reunited. Images of balloons everywhere under a bridge and the last shot of Pennywise saying “Hello”.

As were Variety :

In footage screened at the exhibition industry trade show, Beverly Marsh (Jessica Chastain), the sole female member of the Losers’ Club returns to her childhood home only to find out that her abusive father has died in the years since she left town. There she is invited in by the new resident, who makes her tea and cookies. Slowly she begins to realize something isn’t right. Insects form on the window in a peculiar pattern, the old woman disappears into the kitchen and disrobes while dancing maniacally.

“You know what they say about Derry,” the woman says at one point. “No one who dies here ever really dies.”

ComicBook.com have a recap, too :

Grown Beverly goes to Kersey’s house. She is looking for her father. She grew up here. A creepy woman finally opens the door and informs her that her father passed away,” Davis detailed. “She invites her in for a drink, insisting. Beverly has trouble visiting this place, calling it ‘cleaner’ when asked. She finds the love note from the first film. Down the hall, the old woman starts to contort her body and jumps out of the door frame. Over tea, the woman plays a record. There are creepy bugs on the window. They converse and joke that it is so hot here that they could die. ‘No one who dies here ever really dies,’ the woman says before a creepy stare. Beverly is caught off guard by the woman’s temporary freeze. She is sweating profusely and fanning herself with her shirt, revealing a cut on her chest. A bell sounds and the woman goes to retrieve cookies. Beverly looks at the photos on the wall in the mean time, asking about the woman’s family — her father joined the circus. The woman walks through the background with her clothes. She asks Beverly, “Are you still his little girl?” before beginning to yell and quickly rush towards her.

Davis added, “The Losers’ Club reunites, both in the past and in the present. Pennywise is flying on balloons. Romance in the past and present. Pennywise emerges from a shadow in a basement and says ‘Hello!’ to a little girl.”

“IT: Chapter Two” hits theaters on September 6th.
