On the heels of allegations that he’s been a bit of a nightmare to work with, Warner Bros Television has reportedly pink-slipped Clayne Crawford from it’s action drama “Lethal Weapon”, which just wrapped it’s second season on Fox.

If the series gets a third season – Fox are yet to make a decision on a pick-up – Martin Riggs will likely don a new phizog.

Multiple sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that troubled star Warner Bros are scouting for a replacement for Crawford, who they’ve fired from the series. Though the actor apologized for the two incidents in which he was reprimanded for during the sophomore season of the show, it’s a case of too little, too late, it seems.

“I absolutely love, respect and care for my crew and cast, and would never intentionally jeopardize so many jobs,” Crawford wrote at the time. “I an incredibly sorry if my passion for doing good work has ever made anyone feel less than comfortable on our set, or feel less than celebrated for their efforts. Furthermore, I apologize to all the crew and cast for any negative attention Lethal Weapon is receiving because of these incidents.”

The producers have apparently already offered the Riggs role to a number of other actors but have yet to get a commitment. Fox and Warner Bros. Television have until June 30 — when options on the cast expire — to make a decision on a third season.

While the future mightn’t be bright for the TV incarnation of “Lethal Weapon”, fact that the brand has been such a powerful performer on the small screen could help inch the on-again off-again on-again off-again big screen “Lethal Weapon” sequel – which Mel Gibson, Danny Glover and Richard Glover have committed to – forward.

Previously…

Fox’s “Lethal Weapon” has had a successful run of two seasons, with Damon Wayans and Clayne Crawford in the lead roles. Unfortunately, reports of bad on-set behaviour from Crawford have made the renewal decision a complicated one.

According to Deadline, Crawford has apparently been disciplined several times over complaints of emotional abuse and creating a hostile environment – resulting in other cast not wanting to be on set with him.

If they were to replace him, it’s always a risky move with an established series, and given he’s on of the leads, it wouldn’t go unnoticed.

The TV series sees Texas cop and former Navy SEAL Riggs (Crawford) suffer the loss of his wife and baby, so he moves to Los Angeles to start anew. There, he is partnered with LAPD Detective Roger Murtaugh (Wayons), who, having recently suffered a “minor” heart attack, must avoid stress in his life.

The original film series starred Mel Gibson and Danny Glover in the leads, and there has been talks of a fifth flick.

Hopefully we will soon hear what will be the fate of the series!
