Clints Bits – 14/7/04

I’m starting to hear some good things about Wes Craven’s “Cursed”. Apparently the studio is pleased with it and are quite certain it’s going to make a pretty penny. It’s just as much a surprise to me to hear that all the rough-cuts are going down well, especially considering the trouble this baby has gone through. But they’ve in essence – not unlike the “Exorcist” prequel – re-shot the whole film with a slew of new cast members and a necessary new driving force to the storyline, and it now works. In addition, the ferocious creature that’s in the flick reportedly packs a lot more punch now than it did when filming first commenced, thanks to a new fx team. I wonder though how all the actors who’ve since been cut from the film will feel if it is a smasheroo? Poor Heather Langenkamp [Nancy from “A Nightmare on Elm Street”] was recently informed she’d be another that would have to be happy with viewing her scenes on the cutting room floor. Once one aspect of the storyline was cut – which all revolved around a character played by Skeet Ulrich – anyone who had anything to do with that plot element had to be lost. Hopefully some of the cut stuff will make it on the DVD. Happy International Nudie day for tomorrow…
