There’s a new Scott Derrickson project coming called Beware the Night

Scott Derrickson, writer and director of the upcoming spookfest “Sinister”, has a new movie in the works titled “Beware the Night”.

TheWrap announced the project this afternoon.

Says the site, “The story is set in a paranormal world and follows a New York police officer investigating real life demon possessions, exorcisms and werewolves after dark.”

The outlet says the project’s currently the property of Disney, but Screen Gems are trying to lure it over to their compound. In terms of who’d play the cop, they have Mark Wahlberg down as reportedly passing on the project.

I can tell you that a few of the points mentioned in the story aren’t correct, without going into detail, but the real deal will be revealed soon enough I’d say.

As a big fan of Derrickson’s truly chilling “The Exorcism of Emily Rose”, and as someone awaiting anxiously the arrival of the Ethan Hawke-starring “Sinister” (which looks like good, freaky fun), I welcome whatever this filmmaker does in this genre.
