Colin Trevorrow returning to write and direct Jurassic World 3

The man behind “Jurassic World” is returning for the third instalment, with Steven Spielberg confirming the news to Entertainment Weekly.

J.A. Bayona is directing “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom”, with Trevorrow busy working on “Star Wars 9”  before being given the chop. However he did help pen the script for the second instalment with Derek Connolly.

Executive producer Spielberg will also return for the third chapter of the “World” series in the same capacity.

Trevorrow will collaborate with Emily Carmichael on the script for the third “Jurassic World”, stating:

“It’s important to this franchise that we welcome new creative voices to keep our storytelling fresh and alive. I’m thrilled with the tension and beauty J.A. has brought to Fallen Kingdom, and I know Emily will add another layer of emotion to the concluding chapter of our trilogy.”

“Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” will hit cinemas June 22.
