Comic-Con : horror wrap-up

The opening night at Comic-Con has been a ripper, with trailers, posters and new projects unveiled. It’s pretty clear though that the horror genre owned the night, with some impressive panels and booths rocking the halls. Check out the summary of the news below:

The Nun

“Conjuring” spin-off “The Nun” recently wrapped up production, and thus far details have been few and far between apart from a few casting announcements. Valek the Nun will be played by Bonnie Aarons again, who played the demonic figure in “The Conjuring 2”. Alongside Aarons stars Demian Bichir as Father Burke, Taissa Farmiga as Sister Irene and Charlotte Hope as Sister Victoria.

Comic-Con attendees were treated to a brief teaser trailer, which is going to be released to the internet next week. Deadline were on hand to recap the trailer as follows:

“Taissa Farmiga’s Sister Irene waking up in a Roman monastery and wobbling around to find a group of dark cloaked figures praying before an altar. One of them arises and it’s a nun’s shrieking demonic face. Despite Taissa’s older sister Vera Farmiga starring in The Conjuring as paranormal investigator Lorraine Warren — their characters in the franchise aren’t related at all (or so we’re told).”

Screenwriter Gary Dauberman introduced the footage with a simple statement: “Start praying San Diego, because no one is safe from the unholy terror that is…The Nun”.

“The Nun” will scare cinema goers from July 13, 2018.
