It’s been a busy few days – though not as busy, obviously, as it would’ve been sans pandemic – at Comic-Con at Home.
Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter appeared via video to plug “Bill & Ted Face the Music”. “None of us really thought about embarking on a journey to make a third,” said Winter, as they questioned if it was worth revisiting. “No one really needs it unless it’s really great we could somehow magically hold on to the creative well enough that it maintained its integrity of that initial idea and thus began a very long road.” [More…]
Guillermo del Toro said it’s been hard having to press pause on “Nightmare Alley”. “We’ve been going through more schedules than ever…the blessing of having this cast is amazing. But the difficulties of rescheduling is enormous because everyone is in demand and you have to work around everybody’s schedule. I like to think for every problem in every movie, there’s a graceful solution. Sometimes you don’t see it. I think we’ve found the silver bullet, but it’s not easy.” [More…]

The cast and crew of “Constantine” appeared via video on Saturday to talk up the 2005 flick. Producer Akiva Goldsman said of the sequel rumors, “Boy, we wanted to make a sequel, We wanted to make a hard ‘R’ sequel; we’d probably make it tomorrow…. To the studios who made it, Warner Bros and Village Roadshow, it was always a little bit of a feathered fish; its oddness,” explained Goldsman about why a sequel didn’t move forward. “(It was) equally comfortable in a character scene between Keanu and Rachel [Weisz] as it is with demons flying, hurling themselves at a man who lights his fist on fire and expels them. It’s odd, right? It’s not action-packed, it just has a bunch of action. This movie isn’t exactly a thing, it’s actually a few things. And those seem harder and harder to make.” [More…]
As part of the ‘Directors on Directing’ panel, Colin Trevorrow touched on why he decided to depart “Star Wars : The Rise of Skywalker”. “I have been very fortunate in the films that I’ve directed.The path that I wanted to follow and the path that everyone involved wanted to follow was the same. It’s totally possible for people to see two totally different paths through the woods. That was just an experience that obviously, as you can imagine with all of these things, it can get to the point of being traumatic when there’s something that you care about that much and you’ve invested that much in it. But that’s one of the things you accept when you take on any role in film, especially when you become a storyteller – that there are going to be heartbreaks. There is going to be crushing disappointments, and then there’s going to be victories. Hopefully, they’ll balance out in the end.” [More…]

Zack Snyder says he won’t be using one frame of Joss Whedon’s in his ‘cut’ of “Justice League”. “I’d destroy the movie before I use a single frame that I didn’t photograph,” the director declared on a zoom interview. “That is a fucking hard fact. I’d blow the fucking thing up.”
In addition to the chat, Snyder also revealed a new clip from his cut – featuring Superman in his black suit.
