Confirmed! Disney doing new Apes and Alien films

As we exclusively reported a month or so ago, just because Disney now owns Fox it doesn’t mean we’ll have seen the last of some of our favourite adult-skewed franchises. FOX’s Emma Watts inadvertently confirmed our report today at CinemaCon, suggesting that we’ll be seeing both new installments of “Planet of the Apes” and “Alien” at the house of mouse in the near future.  It’s unclear whether the new “Alien” film will be the next chapter in Ridley Scott’s “Prometheus” series of films or the proposed “Aliens” sequel from Neil Blomkamp. As we mentioned in our report, the new “Apes” film is rumored to be a reboot of the franchise.

Via a sizzle reel, containing footage from existing films in the respective franchises, the studio also hinted that we’ll be seeing further instalments of “Predator”, “The Maze Runner” and “Avatar” (hopefully they’re referring to the four sequels already in production…).
