We last heard that the legendary Kurt Russell had been approached to play Peter Quill, Star-Lord’s poppa, in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2” but there was still a ways to go before the “Fast & Furious 7” actor would sign away his life.
According to Marvel, who issued both a press release and new photo (below) today, Russell is indeed a lock for the key role.
Also joining the James Gunn-directed production are Aussie actress Elizabeth Debicki (“The Man from U.N.C.L.E”) and Chris Sullivan (“The Knick”).
The film, hitting cinemas May 2017, is now filming at Pinewood Studios in Atlanta, Georgia.
