The next live-action adaptation of a Walt catalog classic is ‘real boy’ saga “Pinocchio”, which “Back to the Future” helmer Robert Zemeckis will helm.
The script, penned by Zemeckis and “Rogue One” scribe Chris Weitz, retells the classic 1940 tale of a wooden puppet who sets out to become a real boy.
A casting update for the film has been obtained by The Illuminerdi with the site claiming “X-Men” alum Alan Cummings is being sought for the role of Honest John in the film with Stephen Graham (“Boardwalk Empire”) tipped for the role of the Coachman.
The Illuminerdi has received notice of a casting search update for Disney’s upcoming live-action adaptation of Pinocchio!
Here’s the breakdowns of those particular characters :
COACHMAN (Live Action role) – A sinister, shadowy figure who is notorious for luring little boys to Pleasure Island where they are transformed into donkeys.
HONEST JOHN (Animated role/Voiceover) – A literal and metaphorical fox. A sly con-man. He encourages Pinocchio to stop going to school and sells him to the circus.
Tom Hanks, who worked with Zemeckis on “Forrest Gump”, will reunite with the filmmaker on the film, playing Geppetto.
“Paddington” director Paul King had originally been tapped to direct but had to leave the project for unknown reasons, paving the way for Zemeckis to step in.
