“Covid took me out”, says Mission : Impossible star

“Mission : Impossible – Fallout” actress Angela Bassett won’t be reprising her role as CIA director Erika Sloane, as expected, in the upcoming seventh instalment of the series after all.

Speaking to Collider, the “Gunpowder Milkshake” actress said the ongoing pandemic caused her to drop out of the Christopher McQuarrie-directed sequel.

“I can’t tease anything about Mission: Impossible 7 except that, well, COVID took me out, literally. Or kept me out, how about that? So that’s all I know about that, but maybe I’ll be able to tease 8 when that comes along.”

“Mission : Impossible 7” will be released May 27, 2022.
