Creed singer playing Sinatra in Reagan biopic

Scott Stapp, frontman for the band Creed, will play crooner Frank Sinatra in the recently announced Ronald Reagan biopic.

The “With Arms Wide Open” singer will apparently give his lungs a workout in a scene set at the Cocoanut Grove, where Reagan watches on as the then president of SAG. Dennis Quaid plays the actor cum president.

Sinatra in performance mode was an exercise in restraint,” Stapp says in a statement acquired by Billboard. “He had this steely, stylish swagger and his sheer presence commanded a room. I was excited to join the cast and blown away by the on-set attention to detail, style, and overall production.”

The Sean McNamara flick will also star Penelope Ann Miller as Nancy Reagan, Mena Suvari as Reagan’s first wife Jane Wyman, Kevin Dillon as Jack Warner, and Jon Voight as a KGB agent who tracked Reagan for decades.

If this movie wasn’t directed by the guy who brought us “Cats & Dogs 3”, I’d even be excited…

Was it Dennis Hopper who last played Sinatra on the big screen? I believe so…
