D23 : Obi-Wan Kenobi series confirmed!

The widely-mooted Obi-Wan Kenobi series, starring Ewan McGregor as the iconic robed lightsaber-yielder, has been officially confirmed.

At D23 today, Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy and star McGregor – who last reprised the role of Kenobi for a voice-over role in J.J Abrams’ “The Force Awakens” – worked the audience into a frenzy with their official reveal.

“Ask me,” said Ewan McGregor, making an appearance at the the D23 Expo. “Am I going to play Obi Wan Kenobi again?”

“Ewan, are you going to play Obi Wan Kenobi again,” said Kennedy, smiling.

“Yes,” replied McGregor.

The series, which will be set between the events of “Revenge of the Sith” and “A New Hope”, has already been written – well, most of the episodes have. Kennedy says they hope to start shooting next year but was unable to reveal a broadcast date at this early stage.

Like “The Mandalorian”, the “Kenobi” series will air on Disney+.
