Daniel Radcliffe to Play Allen Ginsberg

Daniel Radcliffe is lining up his projects, y’all! His first post “Harry Potter” film “The Woman in Black” doesn’t hit theaters until February 3 in the U.S., but that doesn’t mean Radcliffe isn’t already looking to move past the boy wizard role he held for 10 years. Currently starring on Broadway in “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying”, the British actor has found his next film.

Just last week, Radcliffe was quoted in a French interview saying that he would be playing a gay character in an unnamed film sometime in 2012. Well, that film is John Krokidas’ “Kill Your Darlings” where Radcliffe will be playing Beat poet Allen Ginsberg.

Twitch reports that once he’s done on Broadway, he’ll move onto the “Darlings” project which is a thriller based on real events. The film revolves around the relationship between Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac and Lucien Carr. Carr, for his part, is credited for connecting Ginsberg, Kerouac and William S Burroughs but, most notoriously, served time for the 1944 murder of his lover David Kammerer.

Word of the project first came in 2009, when Chris Evans, Jesse Eisenberg and Ben Whishaw were attached to play Kerouac, Ginsberg and Carr but apparently all of that fell through.
