Dirty Dancing 3 starring Jennifer Grey on the way!?

Is a new “Dirty Dancing” flick- the third in the series, counting the best-forgotten “Havana Nights” – on the way with Jennifer Grey back in her corner as Baby?

Deadline seems to reckon so, reporting that a new film Grey is producing and starring in at Lionsgate could be the new “Dirty Dancing” sequel they’ve heard rumblings about.

Sadly, Grey’s co-star from the 1988 flick, Patrick Swayze, is no longer with us so he wouldn’t be involved. The late actor reprised his Johnny Castle role for the 2004 sequel “Dirty Dancing : Havana Nights”.

What would a new “Dirty Dancing” flick look like? Would she now be a dance instructor herself? Maybe she’s helping her son or daughter how to prance from the stage? Or perhaps, she’s the new owner of the Catskills sleep-n-stay she visited as a child? Lots of possible scenarios, I guess…

This new film will boast a screenplay by “Five Feet Apart” scribes Mikki Daughtry and Tobias Iaconis, with Megamix’s Jonathan Levine (“Warm Bodies”) and Gillian Bohrer producing.
If Levine, whose films include quality fare like “Long Shot” and “50/50” directs, it’d be a win for the film.

After the success of “Dirty Dancing”, which racked up $218 million at the global box office off a $5M production, Grey appeared in such films as “Wind” with Matthew Modine, “Bounce” with Ben Affleck and Gwyneth Paltrow, and David Mamet’s “Redbelt”. She recently appeared in the Amazon series “Red Oaks”.

Proving her on-camera skills have carried over to real life, 60-year-old Grey danced a storm on reality TV hit “Dancing with the Stars” a few years back.

It likely slipped you by but Lifetime remade “Dirty Dancing” a few years back with Abigail Breslin starring in Grey’s role.
