Dirty Dancing sequel with Jennifer Grey confirmed; John Wick 5 also a go

Lionsgate have confirmed two big pieces of news today, with the rumoured “Dirty Dancing” sequel officially on with Jennifer Grey returning as Baby, as well as a “John Wick 5” on the cards – to film back-to-back with “Chapter 4”.

Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer confirm the discussions about “Dirty Dancing”, stating:
“And to reveal one of the worst kept secrets in Hollywood, we’re pleased to confirm that Jennifer Grey will both executive produce and star in a new ‘Dirty Dancing’ movie for Lionsgate from ‘Warm Bodies’ director Jonathan Levine,” he said. “It will be exactly the kind of romantic, nostalgic movie that the franchise’s fans have been waiting for and that have made it the biggest-selling library title in the Company’s history.”

For those fans of Keanu Reeves (umm, everyone?!), “John Wick: Chapter 4” was originally slated for May 21, 2021 but was recently pushed back a year – but Feltheimer has now noted it will shoot back-to-back with a 5th instalment.
“We’re also busy preparing scripts for the next two installments of our ‘John Wick’ action franchise, with ‘John Wick 4’ slated to hit theatres Memorial Day weekend 2022. We hope to shoot both ‘John Wick 4’ and ‘5’ back to back when Keanu becomes available early next year.”

Fingers crossed the world gets on top of the pandemic sooner rather than later, with this very exciting news emerging from Lionsgate!
