“Aladdin” actor Billy Magnussen is set to reprise his role in a spin-off for Disney+.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Magnussen’s Prince Anders, the scene-stealing suitor for Princess Jasmine, will front his own series.
Disney has hired Jordan Dunn and Michael Kvamme to pen a script for the untitled offshoot. Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, re back in the producers’ seat via Rideback, their banner. Rideback’s Ryan Halprin will executive produce.
Magnussen had a hand in the project’s inception. He came to the producers with an idea for a story and was involved, along with the studio and Rideback, in meeting with potential writers.
In addition to the spin-off, Disney are developing a sequel to the hit live-action film.
