Yara Shahidi (“Grown-Ish”) will play Tinker Bell in David Lowery’s “Peter Pan and Wendy”, says Deadline.
As the trade reminds us, this would mark the first time a person of color has filled the role that traditionally has featured a white actress.
The actress joins Jude Law, who will play Captain Hook, as well as Alexander Molony and Ever Anderson, who will play the title characters.
David Lowery, who directed “Pete’s Dragon” for the studio, is on board to helm the pic, based on Disney’s 1953 animated movie and co-wrote the script with Toby Halbrooks.
