Disney have given an update on their current release schedules, with the pandemic still meaning that a majority of cinemas remain closed.
The live-action adaptation of “Mulan” has been completely removed from the release schedule. The film, directed by Niki Caro, was set for release August 21st after a few shuffles. Disney have made no further comment about it’s fate, apart from saying it’s undated.
The dates for “Star Wars” are being delayed by a year with the first film moving Dec. 22, 2023, the next moves to Dec. 19, 2025. and a third untitled film to Dec. 17, 2027.
The “Avatar” sequels are also being pushed back a year – “Avatar 2” moves to to Dec. 16, 2022; “Avatar 3” moves to Dec. 20, 2024; “Avatar 4” to Dec. 18, 2026; and “Avatar 5” to Dec. 22, 2028. It’s rather scary to think about how old I will be when that final movie comes out.
Other changes on the Disney schedule:
“The Personal History of David Copperfield” moves two weeks to Aug. 28, 2020.
“Death on the Nile” shifts two weeks to Oct. 23, 2020.
“The Empty Man” moves to Dec. 4, 2020.
“The French Dispatch”, previously dated Oct. 16, 2020, is now unset.
“Antlers” is now dated Feb. 19, 2021.
Ridley Scott’s “The Last Duel” (20th Cenury) will now open wide on Oct. 15, 2021.
