Doctor Strange sequel loses director

Scott Derrickson has exited Marvel Studio’s “Doctor Strange” sequel.

The “Sinister” filmmaker was expected to retain his position as helmer on “Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness” but the studio has confirmed a parting of the ways has taken place over “creative differences”.

“Marvel Studios and Scott Derrickson have amicably parted ways on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness due to creative differences”, Marvel said in a statement.  “Derrickson will stay on as an executive producer and we remain grateful to Scott for his contributions to the MCU.”

Derrickson told Twitter followers :

“Marvel and I have mutually agreed to part ways on Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness due to creative differences. I am thankful for our collaboration and will remain on as EP.”

Production will still begin in May on the film as plannned, with the film skedded for a May 7, 2021 release.

Again starring Benedict Cumberbatch as the sorcerer supreme, “Multiverse of Madness” has been described as more of a horror film than the original film, which was more or less a superhero outing with supernatural elements.
