Don Johnson joins Rebel Ridge while Nash Bridges movie inches forward

Currently riding one heck of a second wave, what with dynamite turns in the likes of “Dragged Across Concrete”, “Watchnen” and “Knives Out”, ‘80s TV Icon Don Johnson (“Miami Vice”) has added another plum credit to his CV.

The Golden Globe Winner has been snapped up for Netflix film “Rebel Ridge” starring John Boyega.

The pic, which will also boast turns from

James Badge Dale, Erin Doherty, Zsane Jhe and James Cromwell, Is described as “a deeply human yet high-velocity thriller that explores systemic American injustice in the context of bone-breaking action, ever-coiling suspense, and pitch-black humor”, according to Deadline.

Johnson will get his orders from writer/director Jeremy Saulnier.

Meanwhile, seems it’s full speed ahead with the revival of Johnson’s ‘90s series “Nash Bridges”.  The actor had mentioned it was a possibility of a new series in an interview recently, but word is a 2-hour telemovie is on the way, with more to follow if that instalment is successful. In it, Bridges’ will still be in charge of SIU and the series will fix on the old dog having to keep up with new tricks, with police work significantly different to when it was in the late ‘90s.

Original co-star Cheech Marin is back.

In addition to “Rebel Ridge” and the “Nash Bridges” revival, Johnson is also attached to David Gordon Green’s “Score”, the story of a college football coach that breaks all the rules to get his team ahead. Johnson is one of the writers on that film.
