Don Johnson & more to don masks in Watchmen!

Damon Lindelof’s small screen take on Alan Moore’s beloved comic series “Watchmen” has its cast.

The HBO pilot has tapped Regina King (of Lindelof’s “The Leftovers”), ’80s icon Don Johnson (“Miami Vice”), Tim Blake Nelson (“The Incredible Hulk”), Louis Gossett Jr (“Iron Eagle”), Adelaide Clemens (“Silent Hill : Revelation”) and Andrew Howard (“I Spit On Your Grave”), the seasoned TV honcho revealed on Instagram.

New faces. New masks to cover them. And more to come…

While no details are available on the specific roles, it’s believed at least one of the actors will be recurring.

Set in an alternate history where “superheroes” are treated as outlaws, “Watchmen” embraces the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel while attempting to break new ground of its own.

Lindelof said earlier this week that his “Watchmen” won’t be a sequel to Moore’s book (or Zack Snyder’s feature film) nor will it be a straight-up adaptation of the source material. The new adaptation will be set in modern days and will reportedly only touch on storylines used in the comics.

“We have no desire to ‘adapt’ the twelve issues Mr. Moore and Mr. [Dave] Gibbons created thirty years ago,” Lindelof said in a post on Instagram. “Those issues are sacred ground and they will not be retread nor recreated nor reproduced nor rebooted. They will, however, be remixed.”
