Don’t expect to see another X-Men movie for at least 5 years

Don’t expect to see a new hairy, sharp-clawed vet on screen for at least five years.

New incarnations of Wolverine and the X-Men are not part of Marvel’s five-year plan, studio president Kevin Feige confirmed this week.

While it’s likely that we will see new takes on the mutant troupe in the future, don’t expect to spot them on a studio calendar in the near future.

“It’ll be a while,” Feige tells io9. “It’s all just beginning and the five-year plan that we’ve been working on, we were working on before any of that was set. So really it’s much more, for us, less about specifics of when and where [the X-Men will appear] right now and more just the comfort factor and how nice it is that they’re home. That they’re all back. But it will be a very long time.”

The final “X-Men” movie for Fox, “X-Men : Dark Phoenix” is also said to be the final chapter in the franchise as we know it. When we next see the characters, it’ll likely be that Disney has not only recast the parts but pressed the reset button on the franchise.
