With Fox losing the lease on the X-Men property to Disney soon, expect to see a lot of changes in Professor X’s class going forward.
For starters, sounds like the current cast and ‘class’ – the ensemble that kicked in with “X-Men : First Class” – won’t be making their way their way over to the House of Mouse.
According to “X-Men” producer Lauren Schuler Donner, it’s unlikely the faces in the current crop of “X-Men” movies will be involved in the inevitable Disney-produced versions.
“I don’t know, I don’t think so, certainly in name credit, it’s up to Kevin Feige. I don’t know what Kevin is thinking, I think he’s still dealing with the wealth of characters and trying to make sense of it all.”
In the same interview, Donner said she’s heard rumblings of a new take on ‘Wolverine’ – meaning we’ll be seeing a fresh face playing the dog-tagged mutant in the future. No surprise there.
Remaining “X-Men” flicks due to release through Fox include “Dark Phoenix”, released in June, and “The New Mutants” which is now the subject of the direct-to-streaming rumors.
