Easy A spinoff in early development

The coming-of-age film “Easy A”, starring Emma Stone, was a huge success nearly a decade ago, and now a spinoff is reportedly in the works from the original screenwriter. ScreenGems have appointed Bert Royal to write a direct a spinoff, with Zanne Devine returning to executive produce.

Will Gluck directed the 2010 hit, which was a teen comedy about a clean-cut high school student who relies on the school’s rumor mill to advance her social standing.

Variety reports that insiders note the spinoff will be set at the same high school and will explore many of the same themes as the original “Easy A.” This seems like Stone won’t be involved, but they want a jumping point off the success of the original film.
