Ed Asner reprising original Hawaii Five-O character for reboot

Now this is cool. 36 years since he last played the part, Ed Asner is reprising classic “Hawaii Five-O” character August March for the CBS reboot.

Asner played the up-and-coming smuggler in an episode of the original series that aired in 1975.

Deadline says when we meet March again he’s fresh from jail, after serving 30 years for murder, and finds himself roped into helping the coppers on a smuggling case.

Now considering this “Hawaii Five-O” that’s currently on our screens isn’t a sequel to the original show, but a remake, it doesn’t make a lick of sense having someone reprise their role from the earlier series. Still, it’s a cool bit of stunt casting.
