Edgar Ramirez hops aboard Dwayne Johnson’s Jungle Cruise

Edgar Ramirez is the latest to be added to Disney’s feature adaptation of its own theme park ride, “Jungle Cruise”. He joins Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt and Jack Whitehall in the flick. Jaume Collet-Serra is directing the project, which is set in the early 20th century in the Amazon jungle.

Johnson will play a boat captain who takes his sister (Blunt) and her brother (Whitehall) on a mission to find a tree believed to possess healing powers. Wild animals and a competing German expedition figure into the proceedings.

Ramirez will play a man with a conquistador background who is one of the story’s villains.

The film is set to begin production in May. Michael Green wrote the latest draft of the script, and the production has Beau Flynn, John Davis and John Fox on board as producers.
