The Emmy and Golden Globe Winner will join “X-Men” franchise staple Michael Fassbender in a sports dramedy based on a 2014 documentary about an underdog football team.
“Next Goal Wins”, housed at Fox Searchlight, sees Fassbender play the coach of an American Somoa team who transform from losers into FIFA-cup worthy stars.
Waititi will direct “Next Goal Wins” before tackling the next “Thor” film, which will feature Natalie Portman’s female God of Thunder, er, ‘Jane’.
