After 15 years, Ellen DeGeneres is to make her stand-up return with a special to show on Netflix. The news was playfully revealed on Twitter, with Netflix releasing a statement from DeGeneres confirming the news.
“It has been 15 years since I did a stand-up special. 15 years,” she said. “And I’m writing it now, I can’t wait. I’ll keep you posted when and where I’m gonna shoot my Netflix special. I’m excited to do it; I’m excited for you to see it.”
No other details have been revealed about the special as yet, but no doubt it’ll be a high payed gig. DeGeneres last had a stand-up special on HBO in 2001 with “Ellen DeGeneres: The Beginning” and 2003’s “Ellen DeGeneres: Here and Now”. Meanwhile, her successful daytime talk show just wrapped up its 14th season.
