Emilio Estevez to return for Mighty Ducks TV series

Left out of the recent announcement that Disney+ had commissioned a new live-action series based on “The Mighty Ducks” film series was word on star Emilio Estevez’s involvement.
While most might assume Estevez, who starred in the first two films in the series and briefly appeared in the third, had said goodbye to Gordon Bombay – a new report says otherwise.
According to The Illuminerdi, the actor turned filmmaker will reprise his role as Mighty Ducks coach Gordon Bombay for the new small-screen series. It won’t just be a fleeting cameo either, with the report suggesting Estevez will be one of the leads of the new series.
No word on whether any of the original ‘Ducks’ youngsters – like Josh Jackson – will appear.
Consisting of 10 episodes, “The Mighty Ducks” will follow a 13-year-old boy who starts his own hockey team with his mother after he is kicked off the junior division Mighty Ducks team. Together, they will recruit their own players and coach in the hopes of winning it all.

Filming commences in March in Vancouver on the series.
