Ethan Hawke in Luc Besson’s next

Former Dead Poet Ethan Hawke has joined the cast of Luc Besson’s “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets”.

According to Deadline, though Hawke is a lock for a part in the 3D space opera epic details on his character have yet to be released.

Budgeted at $180 million, the film is based on a French graphic novel and will star Dane HeHaan and Cara Delavinge.

The latter are Valerian and Laureline, a pair of spatio-temporal agents who help defend an utopian 28th century Earth and its neighboring planets from bad guys, with the pair’s adventures rooted in space opera and time travel themes.
