I was speaking to Danny Trejo this week – the full interview of which will be up next week – who gushed enthusiastically about his next project, the highly-anticipated follow-up to “Machete”.
Trejo, noting that the film kicks off into about three weeks, says “The sequel to Machete, Machete Kills is going to be a lot more over-the-top than Machete. We’ve got Sofia Vergara, who is a star in her own right, Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez, and Zoe Saldana – and guess what? I get to kiss all of ’em.”
(I believe that’s the first mention of Zoe Saldana, of “Star Trek” fame, I’ve heard as being involved in this one. Another nice score, Rodriguez!)
And yes, I bow at his feet.
Trejo noted that Machete is the favorite character he’s played, though the part he played in Michael Mann’s “Heat” might come a close second.
Trejo also said he expects – or rather, is requesting – to have a role in Robert Rodriguez’s “Sin City : A Dame to Kill For”.
“I better”, he laughs, “if [Rodriguez] wants to do Machete 3”.
“In fact, you can go ahead and print ‘Robert, let’s get Trejo in Sin City 2’!”
