Exclusive : Rosario Dawson may form Republic with Wesley Snipes

With Kevin Smith announcing he’s pushing “Clerks III” back, Rosario Dawson finds herself with a slot to fill on her Google calendar.

Word is, she’s been approached to take on the female lead in a new Wesley Snipes venture titled “Banana Republic” – which would occupy those available dates.

Written and directed by Peter Gathings Bunche, it’s the tale of a D.C Think-tank operative who – by wearing the guise of an international rock star and major player – tries to take over a small island by tossing out its current overlord. John Leguizamo and Djimon Hounsou are said to be in talks too.

The Snipes movie – yep, he’s an in-demand commodity again; apparently does some good work in “The Expendables 3”- is one of the many titles being shopped around Berlin this year, with a 2014 shoot tied in with the attachments.

Dawson next appears in Robert Rodriguez’s “Sin City : A Dame to Kill For”.
