Expect Poison Ivy in the Birds of Prey sequel

If next week’s “Birds of Prey” proves to be a hit, expect to see classic Bat-villain Poison Ivy in the sequel.

Margot Robbie, who aside from playing Harley Quinn produces the film, tells CBR that she’s very keen to find a way to incorporate Poison Ivy into the series of films.

“I’ve been pushing a Poison Ivy reunion for a long time…Because obviously Ivy and Harley have such an incredible relationship, so I would love to explore that.”

Uma Thurman played the character in the ill-fated “Batman & Robin” in the ‘90s.

Meantime, Robbie has addressed the reason why she opted to bring Harley Quinn back to the screen in “Birds of Prey” and not the once-proposed “Gotham City Sirens”.

Robbie tells Nerdist, “Whilst I was researching the character I started to read Birds of Prey and first I fell in love with Huntress, and I started looking into all of that. I was like, ‘Wow, there’s so many cool female DC characters and no one knows anything about any of them!’ So what if we had a platform for fans to get to know and fall in love with some of these other amazing women? Focusing on the Gotham City Sirens, there were only three of us and we were all well known, whereas with Birds of Prey you can pick any grouping for that, and I thought that might be the perfect platform to introduce some female characters who might really have some legs in the DC Universe.”
