Fisher’s brother reveals “a lot” of Leia in Episode IX

A late Christmas present for Carrie Fisher fans, with news from her brother that the upcoming “Star Wars Episode IX” will feature a “lot of minutes of footage” of the actress that was “unused” from JJ Abrams’ “Star Wars : The Force Awakens”.

Todd Fisher, appearing on Good Morning America to speak about his sister on the second anniversary of her tragic passing, says the footage incorporated into the film of Fisher’s General Leia will feel natural.

“There’s a lot of minutes of footage. I don’t mean just outtakes. This is unused, new content that could be woven into the storyline. That’s what’s going to give everybody such a great kick. It’s going to look like it was meant to be. Like it was shot yesterday. We’re not allowed to talk about the details of anything. But we’re thrilled at what’s been done.”

As per previous reports, Disney and Lucasfilm have no plans to use CGI to add more Leia into the film so will be relying on footage that already exists.

Last week we reported that according to actor John Boyega (‘Finn’ in the “Star Wars” films), the latest installment – unlike the last chapter, “The Last Jedi” (2017), which kicked off immediately after the events of “Force Awakens” – jumps forward in time twelve months.
