Gina Carano to headline new action-thriller written by Near Dark scribe Eric Red

Former “Mandalorian” cast member Gina Carano – she won’t be back on the Disney+ series after a series of controversial social media posts saw her pink-slipped from the Galaxy Far, Far Away – has been cast in an untitled action thriller based on Eric Red’s novel “White Knuckle”.

Red (“The Hitcher”, “Near Dark”) wrote the pic, the story of a traumatized woman who hires a long-hauler to track down an infamous serial killer named “White Knuckle”.

The former MMA fighter will also produce the film, which is currently scouting for a director.

Carano tells Deadline : “I’m completely ignited to be creating this thriller with The Daily Wire and Bonfire Legend. I feel I am exactly where I want and need to be at this moment in my life; it feels as if I have wings.”

The pic is targeted for a quarter 1 2022 release.
