Gyllenhaal circling Boston bombing movie

SOUTHPAW

Jake Gyllenhaal, currently getting good notices for his punchy turn in “Southpaw”, is circling Lionsgate’s Boston bombing movie “Stronger”.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gyllenhaal would play Jeff Bauman, “a survivor who lost both his legs in the attack. Bauman was waiting for his girlfriend at the finish line of the annual marathon when two pressure cooker bombs exploded, killing three people and injuring more than 260 others. He chronicled his experience being a key witness in the trial of bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and his attempts at rehab in a book titled Stronger, co-written by Bret Witter.”

Thanks to Gyllenhaal’s potential involvement, “Stronger” is gaining the most traction among the three projects circling the Boston bombing.

David Gordon Green would direct the film, with David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman of Mandeville Films/TV producing along with Scott Silver. John Pollono wrote the script.

Gyllenhaal next appears in “Everest”.
