Gyllenhaal playing Ford role in new Presumed Innocent

1990 movie tells the story of a horrific murder that upends the Chicago Prosecuting Attorneys’ office

Searchlight Pictures

Following his redo of Roadhouse, stepping into the Dalton role played by the late Patrick Swayze in the ’80s classic, Jake Gyllenhaal looks to reprise Harrison Ford’s Rusty Sabich for a small-screen take on Presumed Innocent.

Like the 1990 film, the series is inspired by the courtroom thriller novel of the same name by Scott Turow and hails from Apple TV+, David E. Kelley, J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot and Warner Bros. TV.

Presumed Innocent tells the story of a horrific murder that upends the Chicago Prosecuting Attorneys’ office when one of its own – Sabich – is suspected of the crime.
