Halloween 2018 is a “lot like” Halloween 1978

Nick Castle, reprising his role as ‘The Shape’ for Blumhouse’s “Halloween”, says the October release is very similar to the original John Carpenter classic. “It’s very neighborhood-centric, you know, like the first one,” Castle shared with HalloweenDailyNews. “It feels a lot like [the first film]. There are a lot of things coinciding [in the new film] that feel like clever ways to introduce a kind of déjà vu of the first one, without feeling like it’s being copied. The script had some very clever people working on it.”

Castle said he and co-star Jamie Lee Curtis had to pinch themselves at times – the on-set vibe was near on par with that on the original.

“This was a remark that Jamie had and I had at the same time almost, we were going, ‘God, this feels so much like the first movie. It’s like everyone is in a family here,’” Castle pointed out. “[They are] young people – they’re not quite as young as we were when we did that, but pretty close – and they all worked together from film school, they have connections [with each other] and it feels like they have a very cohesive group.”

Filming has wrapped on the movie, which is said to take place after the events of the first two films in the series. Curtis reprises her role as Laurie Strode in a story that reportedly erases the events of the later “Halloween” sequels.

On social media, Curtis posted : “Everybody who made the movie did so because of their passion for John Carpenter and Debra Hill’s original vision. I think you will all be very happy and VERY scared. See you 10/19/18″.

The cast also includes Judy Greer, Virginia “Ginny” Gardner, Miles Robbins, Drew Scheid, Dylan Arnold, Will Patton, Rhian Rees, Rob Niter, Aaron Waring, and Omar J. Dorsey.

John Carpenter will executive produce and serve as creative consultant on this film, joining forces with cinema’s current leading producer of horror, Jason Blum. Inspired by Carpenter’s classic, filmmakers David Gordon Green and Danny McBride crafted a story that carves a new path from the events in the landmark 1978 film, and Green also directs.

“Halloween” will be released October 19.
