Hammer, James in Hitchcock remake Rebecca

Armie Hammer and Lily James will headline a remake of Alfred Hitchcock classic “Rebecca”, reports Collider.

From Ben Wheatley, director of “High-Rise”, and housed at Netflix and Working Title, the film boasts a screenplay by Jane Goldman.

Like the original 1940 film, starring Laurence Olivier and Joan Fontaine in the main roles, the film follows “a newly-married young woman who visits her husband’s imposing family estate on a bleak English coast, where she finds herself battling the shadow of his dead first wife — the mysterious Rebecca — whose legacy continues to haunt the house.”

The film, to be produced by Working Title principals Eric Fellner and Tim Bevan as well as Nira Park, will lens in the spring.
