Head of the Class, Ghosts picked up to series

HBO Max has picked up the multi-camera comedy “Head of the Class” from “Scrubs” alum Bill Lawrence.

The show is based on the classic ABC comedy of the same name, which ran from 1986-91.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Isabella Gomez will star in the series as a teacher who wants her students to experience life more than aiming for top grades. Amongst the cast, Jorge Diaz, Jolie Hoang Rappaport, and “Scrubs” and “Cougar Town” alum Christa Miller, who will guest star.

Phill Lewis directed the pilot.

“Head of the Class” is one of several classics getting the reboot treatment over at HBO Max, alongside “Gossip Girl” and “Pretty Little Liars”.

Meanwhile, CBS has picked up Rose McIver (“iZombie”) comedy “Ghosts” from “New Girl” duo Joe Port and Joe Wiseman, says THR.

The single-camera comedy, originally picked up to pilot in 2020 but delayed due to the Coronavirus pandemic, is based on the British series of the same name. It revolves around a struggling young couple whose dreams come true when they inherit a beautiful country house only to find it’s both falling apart and inhabited by many of the deceased previous residents.

In addition to McIver, the series stars Utkarsh Ambudkar, Brandon Scott Jones, Richie Moriarty, Asher Grodman, Rebecca Wisocky, Sheila Carrasco, Danielle Pinnock and Roman Zaragoza.

Trent O’Donnell directed and exec produced the pilot.
