Henwick to lead new Matrix

“Iron Fist” alum Jessica Henwick is in talks to play the lead role in Lana Wachowski’s new “Matrix” movie.

Per Deadline, scuttlebutt has it that the heroine of the film will be a she-Neo of sorts, with Henwick reportedly impressing producers in her recent audition. When the ink dries on her respective contract, she’ll be locked in to sharing the screen with returning “Matrix” alumni Keanu Reeves, Carrie Anne Moss and Jada Pinkett Smith.  Franchise virgins Neil Patrick Harris and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (rumored to be playing either a relative or Morpheus – or a younger incarnation of the man himself) have also been guaranteed a blue – or is it red? – pill.

Wachowski co-write the screenplay with the tentatively-titled “Matrix 4” with Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchell.

In addition to Netflix’s “Iron Fist”, year-old Henwick appeared on HBO’s “Game of Thrones” and in the films “Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens”, “Underwater” and the upcoming “Godzilla vs. Kong”, due for release in March, 2020.
