I Care A Lot starring Rosamund Pike will launch sales at Cannes

STX International, a division of STX Entertainment, will be launching international sales on “I Care A Lot” at the upcoming Marche du Film in Cannes. STX will also directly distribute in the UK and Ireland. This is the first of what is anticipated to be several announcements over the next few days.

The film stars starring Academy Award-nominee Rosamund Pike (“Gone Girl”, “A Private War”) and will be directed by award-winning director J Blakeson (The Disappearance of Alice Creed, The 5th Wave) from his own original screenplay. Principal photography will commence this July in Boston.

Teddy Schwarzman’s Black Bear Pictures is producing and fully financing. Producers are Black Bear’s Schwarzman, Ben Stillman and Michael Heimler, alongside Blakeson. Sacha Guttenstein will executive produce.

Oscar-nominee Pike will play Marla Grayson, a highly successful legal guardian with a knack for using the law to her benefit and her elderly clients’ detriment, living a life of luxury at their expense. But when her seemingly innocent next victim turns out to have dangerous secrets, Marla must use every ounce of her wit and cunning to stay alive in this wry, cutting and wholly original thriller.

“I Care A Lot” marks the most recent collaboration for STXinternational and Black Bear, having previously partnered on the upcoming titles “The Friend” and “The Marsh King’s Daughter”.

“Our friends at Black Bear have consistently brought us commercial and creatively distinctive projects and we are delighted to partner with them again on “I Care A Lot,” said John Friedberg, President of STXinternational. “Rosamund and J are incredible talents with box office appeal and we couldn’t be more excited to have them at the helm of this highly original and entertaining thriller.”

“Black Bear is thrilled to again partner with our friends at STXinternational, who have a talent for recognizing quality and commerciality,” said Black Bear’s Schwarzman. “With I Care A Lot, J Blakeson will deliver both, and we are beyond lucky to have Rosamund Pike on board to star.”
